WHAT IS FSC?
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) promotes responsible management of the
world’s forests through the development of voluntary, internationally recognized
forest management standards. FSC is the most widely recognized forest certification
globally. The FSC certification program supports biodiversity, protects stream
sides, and assures protection of high conservation value forests. Furthermore,
FSC assures consideration of human benefits, provides for stakeholder input,
and insures long term timber supplies.
WHAT IS CHAIN-OF-CUSTODY?
Chain-of-Custody is a quality assurance to our customers that our wood products
have positive environmental attributes that are backed by a global system of
verification.
CHAIN-OF-CUSTODY AND LEED
FSC requires that all manufacturers, distributors and retailers who purchase and sell FSC certified wood materials and/or products, obtain chain-of-custody certification by an accredited third party. For products used in the building industry, this certification is also necessary to earn USGBC LEED MR credit 7.
